Head Coaches
Joe
Wyatte
1904
Not much is known about Joe Wyatte except that he was the first known head
football coach of the Webster City Lynx and guided them to a 1-3-1 record in
1904. According to the 1943-44 Souvenir Program, Joe worked full-time as a
porter at the Magg & Clifton Barber Shop and other than being a coach for
the team, had no connection with the school. Wyatt had been an athlete at
East High School in Des Moines and was "adopted" by the coachless team when he
came to watch it practice one day and merchants then contributed to a fund for
Wyatt for his time and effort.
