Head Coaches
Making the Lynx football program his own
by changing both offensive and defensive schemes, Luhring's first Webster City
squad went 0-9 and only won 3 games in the following two seasons. However, in
2001, Luhring led the Lynx to a 6-3 record before resigning late at the end of
the 2001-02 school year to become the new head football coach at Clear
Creek-Amana. Also the boys’ head track coach who led several individual and
relay teams to State, Luhring had an overall football record at Webster City of
9-27.
KURT
LUHRING
1998-2001
A double-edge sword befell Aplington native Kurt Luhring when he was named the
new Head Football Coach of Webster City High School: not only was he literally
following in the footsteps of living legend Dick Tighe, but Luhring inherited a
proud and traditionally strong program whose players, fans, and patrons expected
nothing less than the absolute domination of their opponents. Luhring, a
Wartburg alumni, came to Webster City with high hopes after turning around
Union-LaPorte City's football program.
