Mission Statement

All great things deserve their due—and simply put, the Webster City Football program deserves its own website.  Created in February of 2008 after five months of research, www.webstercityfootball.com is a non-profit website intended to serve all Lynx players, coaches, trainers, and managers who have worn the Purple and Gold.

The main goal of this website is to serve as both an objective and historical archive for all that is Webster City Football; more than 100 years after its inaugural season, the rich tradition of the football program continues to thrive on hard work, discipline, team unity, sportsmanship, and the support of its community.

As well, its purpose is to also aid the countless fans, alumni, and patrons who have supported Webster City football throughout the years.  After all, how many other communities in Iowa can boast of winning 500-plus games since 1896 or about having five Hall of Fame coaches—Orville Rust, Robert Lamson, Harley Rollinger, Dick Tighe, and Bob Howard—coach their sons?  On the same note, among its many accomplishments, how many high school football programs can speak of a State Championship (1936) or four consecutive Semifinal teams (1983-86)?  The answer:  Not very many.

Such that, welcome to Lynx Country.

Please note that this website is not operated or funded by the Webster City Community School District.  However, at its core, its intention is to both archive and preserve the rich history of Webster City Football while positively promoting the program.
